A Flame Only Works When It’s Elevated
Welcome back to iii Notes.
“...and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick;” — Matthew 5:15b
The second entry of our visual blog series explores the intentional placement of light.
A flame hidden cannot fulfill its purpose. Light was never created for concealment. It was designed to be elevated, not for spectacle or applause, but so it can illuminate what surrounds it. There is a difference between being seen and being positioned with purpose.
This reflection considers what it means to steward what God has placed within us. Gifts, wisdom, creativity, conviction, tenderness, vision. None of it was meant to remain buried beneath fear, insecurity, or convenience. A flame only changes a room when it is lifted.
For iii Summers Co., fire has always represented more than warmth. What began as Bible studies around the fireplace in our home slowly became a living metaphor for how to approach life. We learned to approach life with the God given light we had within us.
There is responsibility in carrying light. And there is intention in where it is placed.
Maybe this season is not asking you to burn brighter.
Maybe it is asking you to rise higher.
